It kinda blew my mind. I thought they were purely theoretical up until this point, more of a thought experiment than actual car. But somebody actually bought one.

I had to google Pontiac G3...I had no idea what they were.
They're Chevy Aveos. With different lights.

Were they actually sold down here? I thought they were Canada-only

Apparently so. It had New Jersey plates on it.

"The five-door Pontiac G3 subcompact hatchback enjoys the dubious distinction of being the shortest-lived Pontiac model of all time. It debuted for 2009 and GM went bankrupt shortly thereafter, necessitating the discontinuation of the Pontiac brand. If you're interested in a G3 (though frankly we're not sure why you would be) , keep in mind that the car of which it is a clone, the Chevy Aveo, continued to be produced after '09." -Edmunds
Need some ice for that burn, Pontiac?

More importantly, what were you doing in Torrington, and were you there on purpose?

I was there all day.... and somehow I missed it.

Very rare in the US, but not likely to be a collectible... I've seen a few (<3) around the Dayton, Ohio area. None since I've moved to South Dakota.

Too bad there was no G3 GXP though

Driving through it to get to my girlfriend's house.

I dunno... Does GXP really mean anything anymore? I saw a G6 GXP and the only think I saw was a body kit with ridiculous whale tail spoiler. I have a buddy with a G8 GXP, that's legit...

I always thought the Solstice coupe was the shortest-lived Pontiac, being introduced for 2010 and then discontinued a couple months later.

Surprisingly, there are probably some people out there that will treat the G3 as collectibles in the future. Chevettes are starting to show up at local classic car shows, which I wouldn't have expected. I'm sure nobody thought those would have any form of collector appeal when they were new.
